Dollhouse Crafty Chit Chat

Maureen's studio apartment before the remodel

Well, now the work starts.  I probably should have attacked this earlier, as I knew it was coming up in the story line.  But, I didn't.  So now I will be scrambling to get this done in time for next week's post, despite having a ton of work to do for school.

I bought this Greenleaf dollhouse ( called Brimble's Mercantile) on Ebay several years ago .
The kit was already put together, but the builder used hot glue, and was obviously not a stickler for perfection.  The price was very good, and I had originally planned to make it a pet store with living quarters above.  Unfortunately, the seller did an extremely poor job of packing it to ship.  She threw it in a box with some crumpled newspaper, and sent it UPS.

The house came to me in pieces.  I was so disappointed, I put it to the side, and there it sat gathering dust.  But the story line demanded that Maureen get a place of her own, and the old Greenleaf was calling my name.  I glued it back together as much as I could, and used it for the scene in which Kevin delivers the ransom money to Marzano, as well as this week's deli scene.  Now, I have to make the top floor livable for Miss O'Kenney, and I have been bouncing ideas around for weeks.

As you can see, a coat of white primer already brightens the place up.  Picked up some cute scrapbook paper today to hang in the kitchen, and finished dressing her vintage brass bed.

Maureen's vintage brass bed, dressed in antique linens.  I think Betsy approves, don't you?

Space in a studio apartment is limited, so I decided to go with vintage Lundby for the kitchen and bathroom.  I found these two sets on Ebay, and I think they are in wonderful condition.  They are the perfect size for Maureen, but Fr. Kevin and the Sheriff think they are a bit too small for their taste.
Kevin says the bathroom makes him claustrophobic.  I guess you'll have to decide for your self.

Maureen thinks it will all come together nicely, and hopefully will be finished in time for a very special Valentine's dinner.  I wonder who she'll invite?

       Until next weekend, best wishes,

        Vicki

  1. So glad I linked up next to you...Dollhouse is adorable and I am sure it will turn out lovely. I used to build dollhouses when I was a young girl and have them all saved in my parents attic. :)

    1. Thanks so much for coming and taking a peek at my blog. It's basically a fiction blog. I build the dollhouse scale scenes to illustrate my ongoing story. Hope you come read a post or two. People seem to like the characters and the ongoing plot.

    1. Thanks Wyrna!

I wish the Google translator worked better, so that you were able to easily read the story that goes with the photos. It seems that readers are quite attached to the characters, as is their author. : )
My son bought me the vintage bed for Christmas, and I am pleased with the way it looks all finished. I think it really reflects Maureen's personality.
Thanks for taking a peek, and your nice comments.
